Borrowing for Faculty and Staff
If you are an adjunct faculty member or a faculty/ staff member that would not normally have library privileges, please visit the polices for NDUS Affiliated and Temporary Accounts.
Faculty and Staff
- Search for the material you would like to checkout using the library's online catalog
- Select the item by clicking on the title
- Under "Get It" if you are not signed in you will be prompted to do so
- Once you have signed in, under "Get It" it will now have the word "Request" in green, click this link
- Put in the date you no longer want the item by
- Hit "Send Request" and you will be contacted when the material is ready for pick up
- If you have questions about holds, contact Access Services
- Your UCard can be used to checkout materials
- Books
- CDs
- DVDs
- Periodicals and journals
- 200 items can be checked out at a time
- At the Knowledge Commons on the second floor
- At one of the self-check out machines on the first floor, second floor, or third floor
- Using the UND Libraries Checkout app
Yes, as long as a Faculty Proxy Agreement is signed first
How long can I check items out?

Yes! The Chester Fritz Library can delivery physical library materials to offices located on campus.
How do I get my library items delivered?Sign in to your library account through the Chester Fritz Library
Once you found the item you want, click on it to view the description
In the full description, there is a section titled "Get It" and under that is a link
that says "Request"
Fill in the following information:
- Under Pickup Location, select Work Address
- In Loan Length select the option that is presented
- Select the date when the request should be canceled if you still haven't gotten the material
- In the comment section, list your UND Stop (the example listed is for the library)
Hit the "Send Request" button at the bottom of the form
- Most materials can be renewed online
- If you are having trouble contact Access Services at 701-777-4644 or und.accessservices@library.und.edu
- If a library item you need is checked out you may place a hold on the item
- The current borrower will receive a recall alert and be told to return the material to the library
- If you have library materials checked out that are recalled you will receive an email from the library asking you to return the material
- You will have one week to return the material before it is considered a lost item
- Access Services Desk on the second floor
- The Knowledge Commons on the second floor
- The book drop on the southeast side of the building, there is a driveway off Centennial Drive that can be used to pull up to it
- Yes, a reminder is sent to your email address about a week before the due date of the material
- Renew library materials online
- Contact Access Services at 701-777-4644 or und.accessservices@library.und.edu
- One week after the due date, your library materials will be considered lost
- There are no late fines but there is a lost item fee
- A $100.00 lost item fee will be charged to your account one week after the due date on any library materials
- The lost item fee will be credited back to your account if the item is returned one-month within billing in good condition
- A student assistant who has been given permissions to check out library materials on behalf of a faculty member
- Staff cannot proxy for another staff member
- Students cannot proxy for another student
Who is responsible for materials checked out by a proxy?
- The faculty member who the student assistant checked out materials for, is responsible for any lost or damaged items
I am faculty, what do I need to set up a proxy?
- The Chester Fritz Library UND Faculty Proxy Agreement form must be filled out and submitted (via docusign)
- A copy of the faculty ID needs to be provided to the Access Services department
I am faculty, how will my proxy checkout materials?
- Once the form and copy of faulty ID have been received and processed by Access services, a faculty proxy can come checkout materials
- A student checking out materials on behalf of a faculty member, should bring a copy of the proxy agreement when they come to get materials

This form allows a student to checkout items or request ILL on behalf of a faculty member.

The first time you go to the Chester Fritz Library, be sure to go to the Access Services desk on the second floor, and ask a staff member to link your faculty or staff account with the Chester Fritz Library. If you do not do this, you will be unable to checkout library materials.
