Linking to Articles
You can create links to articles in the library’s databases. These are often the easiest way to distribute digital copies of articles to your students. Because each student accesses the article through a licensed library database, copyright permissions are taken care of already.
Permalinks, also known as stable URLs or pURLs, are links to articles in databases. They do not change, and can therefore be used in web sites or emails.
Creating a Link to a Licensed Article
- Locate the article in one of the library’s databases.
- Look for a stable URL for the article. This might be labeled any of:
- stable URL
- stable link
- durable link
- persistent URL (PURL)
- Note: on Gale databases, look for the icon, usually labeled "Bookmark".
- Use the proxy link generator below to create a link that you can use in Blackboard or through any other site.
