24 March 2011 — Video for the 1974 conference is now up! Check it out ...
Since 1970, the University of North Dakota has hosted an annual writers conference, bringing some of the most important writers of the past few decades together to discuss their art. Former attendees include Allen Ginsburg, the Beats, Harlan Ellison, and many more.
The Chester Fritz Library Department of Special Collections plans to digitize the recorded readings, panel sessions, and lectures of these conferences. Most of 2003 and one session in 2004 are now available. The 2010 conference is in the process of digitization, and will be added soon. Viewing the video requires QuickTime.
The very earliest conferences (1970-1973) were recorded in audio only, and are currently being digitized.
